Did you know, in the 2019/20 financial year, 70,541 applications for support were provided by State Schools’ Relief to students across the state? That’s 1 in every 9 Victorian state school students!
We’re predicting that demand for our support will increase exponentially in the coming months and somehow, we need to be able to fund this. That’s why we’re trying something new. We’ve found an exciting new way to complement our traditional forms of fundraising and have partnered with My Charity Change.
My Charity Change is a mobile app that allows you to round up your spare change each week for donation to a chosen charity (i.e. State Schools’ Relief!).
It’s very simple. When you make a purchase, My Charity Change will round up the price to the nearest dollar and donate that change directly to State Schools’ Relief. It’s up to you how much you donate. Just set your maximum amount per week and the app does the rest!
Step 2: Select a cause
Simply select State Schools’ Relief from the list provided.
You may not notice the small micro donations from your day-to-day transactions, but we certainly will!
Step 3: Enter your banking details
Enter your banking details and select the account, or card, you’d like to link – then set your round-up amount (e.g. a maximum of $2.00, $5.00, $10.00 per week).
My Charity Change works to protect all customer information, prevent unauthorised account activity and ensure payments are transacted safely. They have also incorporated the following within the website and App:
Step 4: Make a real difference
When a payment is made with the selected bank card, My Charity Change will round up to the nearest dollar, donating it directly to State Schools’ Relief. You really will be creating change from your change!
Should you have any questions about My Charity Change or how it works, please do not hesitate to contact our Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships Manager, Lisa MacKinven, on 8769 8459 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
Donations of $2.00 and over are tax deductible.
It doesn’t matter what line of work you are in, if you would like to do something to help underprivileged Victorian kids, talk to us. Let’s share resources, talents and knowledge in ways that can benefit both your business and the community.
Regular giving provides important income that supports our ability to respond to immediate requests for assistance.
Every Dollar Helps
Every dollar donated goes directly to Victorian state school students
No other Australian state or territory has a similar organisation
Exclusively For VIC Govt Schools
The only criterion is that the child is enrolled at a Victorian Government school. Every circumstance is different – there are a variety of situations where the child may need support such as poverty, neglect, homelessness, financial hardship, family violence, illness and the devastating effects of house fires and natural disasters
Help Through Resources
We don’t provide money directly to the parents or children – we provide practical assistance directly to the child through quality school clothing, generic uniforms, footwear, socks and underwear free of charge or by authorisation to purchase from their school shop or supplier on a co-payment basis
We are always looking for new ideas and businesses we could partner with to provide more Victorian kids the opportunities to succeed in education
A regular donation to State Schools’ Relief could mean the difference between a child who becomes withdrawn and a child with the confidence to get through the school day. We have an automated giving platform via GiveNow where you can set up weekly, monthly, annual or one-off payments by credit card or direct debit.
Alternatively, you can transfer funds directly into our account via EFT. Account details are listed below:

Why donate to State Schools’ Relief?
State Schools’ Relief has many generous supporters who kindly make tax deductible donations through their payroll each week, each fortnight or each month.
One of our donors explained why:
“Every time I see the look of relief on a parents face when we suggest sourcing uniforms from State Schools’ Relief – and then the look of joy on the children’s faces when the parcel arrives – I know that supporting this cause directly improves children’s lives. It’s done quietly, with no fuss and allows the children to feel part of the school without standing out due to their family circumstances” – staff member, Dandenong Primary School
What’s the process?
Payroll giving can be completed in one of two ways:
Alternatively, why not arrange a morning tea with your staff to find out more?
Our Payroll Giving form can also be downloaded here.
Every dollar you donate goes directly to kids in need. The tax benefit is immediate: if you donate $20.00, only around $13.00 will be deducted from your take home pay.
Workplace Giving is a simple and tax effective way for employees to regularly donate, enabling State Schools’ Relief to provide uniforms and shoes to Victorian kids in need.
